Pilot Getaways is a community site for pilots, reached at pilotgetaways.tv and pilotdestinations.org. These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of pilotgetaways.tv (“we”). Using the site means you accept them.
You need an account for anything personal — logging fields, and the posting, classifieds and messaging features as they open. Give us accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.
The airport data, diagrams, maps and anything members write are informational only. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are not a substitute for official sources, and you may not rely on them for flight planning or navigation. Before you fly, check the current Chart Supplement, NOTAMs, official charts and a proper briefing. You are the pilot in command; every operational decision is yours alone.
FAA charts and data on this site are United States government works republished on a 28-day cycle; we do not alter their content but we cannot guarantee timeliness. Contributions from members are their opinions and recollections, not ours.
You keep ownership of everything you post. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it on the site and in the places where the site shows itself off, until you delete it or your account. Post only what you have the right to post — your own video, your own photos, words that are yours to share.
Do not: impersonate anyone; harass other members; post content that is unlawful, infringing or deceptive; misrepresent an item you are selling; scrape or bulk-download member content; probe or disrupt the service; or use the site to track an aircraft whose pilot has not chosen to share with you. We may remove content and close accounts that break these terms or the ground rules.
Pilot Getaways is a bulletin board, not a marketplace operator. We are not the seller, buyer, broker, shipper, escrow agent or guarantor of anything listed. We take no payment, hold no funds, and take no commission. Any sale is a private transaction between the members involved, on terms they agree between themselves, and any dispute belongs to them. Items that need documentation to be airworthy need that documentation from the seller, and it is the buyer’s job to verify it.
Sharing a flight’s position is off by default and enabled per flight by the pilot, for the audience they choose. Do not republish another member’s position data or use the site to follow someone who has not shared with you. Position data, when shown, may be delayed or wrong and is not for any operational use.
You can delete your account whenever you like (email us, or use the account controls as they arrive), and your content goes with it. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we can change or discontinue features of a young site as it grows — if we ever discontinue the whole site, we will give reasonable notice.
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of information. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for anything a member does or posts, for any transaction between members, or for any decision — in the air or on the ground — made in reliance on the site. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of $50 or what you paid us in the past year (today: nothing).
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes belong to the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell account holders by email. Using the site after that means you accept the change.
